Great news about Rumsfeld!

Pity about your system tho' that leaves Bush in office even tho' his party lost. In Australia, the whole government is up for grabs at the election.

Now WE just have to get rid of that suckhole Howard who is so far up Bush's arse it's tragic.

El Qaeda has the capacity to kill 3, 000 people in one (or two) blows which is ghastly but it's our leaders who have the capacity to destroy our democracy and our values (and doing their darndest to do so). Who is the bigger terrorist?

I must say that many features of America, like voting, social welfare and treatment of transsexual people is way behind Australia. Possibly because your society is built on the 3 pillars of Puritanism, slavery and Frontier Individualism (?). Worryingly, Howard seems to be trying to make us more like you. She should be a nurse or something even better.
We heard about your election on the news today, I was actually kind of surprised that we did, being that we live in Canada!
AND I laughed at the luck that you also had last night, while you were trying to vote! So from now on city elections in Minneapolis will use this very cool system. I wish we had been able to use it statewide on the Governor's election this year; I'm pretty sure it would have changed the outcome.

At a backyard wiener-roast fundraiser for IRV this summer, we met Keith Ellison, who is our new Representative to Congress. I'm very excited about him and his potential. We did not have a lawn sign in favor of his candidacy, however; every time I've put up a lawn sign, the candidate has lost. So no more lawn signs for me. One time, the candidate even died.
