INTERIM IS BACK ONTERIM

Not all that long ago, I was very excited about not having to be the interim Volunteer Services Director (not my favorite thing at all) and being able to start on my contract management. Unfortunately, I am again being asked to be the Interim Volunteer Services Director. Evne more unfortunate is that I still have my contract to manage. Joy.

I have known for some time our Volunteer Services director was on the way out but it was kept very quiet and no one really knew when her last day was going to be or what all the logistics surrounding her leaving were. This was difficult because I knew I would have to start doing that job again, but I didn’t know when. Apparently, when is now.

Her last day was Friday. She didn’t tell anyone. Luckily I have access to her email account because as I was her back-up for so long that she gave me her passwords. This morning, after I verified that Friday was actually her last day, I logged into her account to see what she told the volunteers. She didn’t tell them anything. Unfortunately, I haven’t had time this morning to get a blast email out to the volunteers describing the little I know about the situation because I was teaching volunteer sessions and making sure that all the addresses of volunteers in her personal address book matched those in the companywide distribution list. Joy.

I then needed to eat some food and blog about how annoyed I am by the whole situation. I wish she would have told me what was going on. I thought we were cool? I guess not. First thing to do when my lunch is over is to get this email out. I can just see the replies I’ll be getting. When did she know she would be leaving? Why didn’t she tell anyone? What is she doing now? The only question I can technically answer is the first one. It has been easily over a month even though it was a secret and no one was supposed to know. However, I don’t want to give out that information because they will then be wondering even more about the second question and I have nothing to say about that. As to the third, your guess is as good as mine.

Wish me luck.

The only unguessed song from last week was

4. Wish you gave me your number/ Wish I could call you today/ Just to hear a voice/ I got a long way to go/ I'm getting further away. Better Be Quiet Now, Elliot Smith.

Because I can't help myself from joining in crazy long memes, here is a random list of movies I took from Mrs. L. Apparently if you have seen more than 85 films on this list you have no life. If you read this blog you already know I have no life. This only serves to prove my point.

Wow-- what bizarre behavior on her part. I guess she's not planning to put that job down on her resume.

That was amazingly inconsiderate on her part-- why wouldn't she have at least told you, the person who would have to cover for her?

And when are you going to get to start drawing double salary, for doing double-work?

Personally, I think you can answer "I don't know" or "I really couldn't say" to all of the anticipated questions. You could write it up as a "form letter" and paste in the needed parts for your response to the inquiries when they start coming in...

Have they started their search for a new person yet, since they had so much lead time???

Sorry to hear about your work news. Do they call you Mikey at JFY? (Give it to Mikey, she'll do it - she does EVERYTHING!)

BTW, I was at 106 movies, mainly because they didn't include every version of Dune known to person kind.

I guess I have a life -- I only logged 79 of those movies. I wasn't sure about "Last House on the Left"; I'm pretty sure Dad and I went to it (or was that "Don't Go in the Basement?") and I walked out because it was traumatizing me. And I can't remember if I actually saw Blazing Saddles or just heard a lot about it. So somewhere between 79 and 81. However, some of those other movies are on my "movies I want to see" list. Maybe I shouldn't...?

That sucks about the coworker leaving like that. It seems like any time anyone quits at my job, they don't tell anyone and just wait for someone to notice a few weeks later. Life is so bizarre that way. Tell them she got kidnapped by aliens. That will stop the questions. :)

Strange situation at work. 63 for me on the movies. So apparently I still have a little bit of a life!

1) Office politics, a terrible place. People are fickle. It wasn't fair that she was such a shit.

2) Good luck!

3) According to your movies list, I indeed have no life. Shock.

A work colleague is leaving at the end of june. He told us already and the company should be looking for someone to replace him. The problem? this is a huge company and things are very very slow. He told the boss about leaving two weeks ago, and HHRR didn't start looking for someone yet because one of the big bosses of big bosses didn't approve it yet. Unbelievable.

As far as the movie/loser test goes, I wouldn't feel too bad. I found myself critiquing the list with thoughts like, "Army of Darkness should appear after Evil Dead 2 which is the third part of that trilogy." Spoken in the comic book store owners voice from The Simpsons of course.

I think I've seen more than 85 on that list, too. I blame it on my brother's/dad's taste in movies.

Wow, I can't believe how many movies you've seen, Nat! Do you remember them all in some endless database in your brain or do you just let the plot lines float into your eyeballs and straight out your ears?

I have the *worst* memory for movies and shows but Hubbs can remember specific lines, character names, etc. It's creepy...and also a rather unwelcome skill when it comes to him remembering everything I have ever said to him. He always wins arguments that way. :(

Woo... 130 and more than are on this list. I have a life though, I just don't sleep. Ever.
