HAPPY DAY OF FORCED LOVE

I'm not so big on Valentines Day. I always thought once I got someone special in my life that it would suddenly mean a lot more. Instead it has come to mean a lot less. It is actually a pleasant surprise.

My dismissive attitude to Valentines Day doesn't mean I don't like love and affection. In fact, I like those things quite a bit. I think hugs are the greatest. To celebrate valentines day I present you all with the best hug I have ever seen in my life.

Don't you all wish you had a friend like that?

I thought about putting up love songs for the guessing today but it was far too much work. It's all shuffle like normal.

1. I see us in the park/ Strolling the summer days/ Of imaginings in my head. Knocks Me Off My Feet, Stevie Wonder. Identified by Mom.

2. Well I went to school/ Oh/ Well I went to school/ Haha/ Well I went to school/ In Olympia. Rock Star, Hole. Identified by Jason.

3. Dear I thought I'd drop a line/ The weather's cool/ The folks are fine/ I'm in bed each night by nine

4. Sitting down by my window/ Looking at the rain/ Sitting down my window/ All around I felt it/ All I could see was the rain

5. I feel pretty/ Oh so pretty/ I feel pretty and witty and gay. I Feel Pretty, West Side Story. Identified by Chatty Knitter.

That is insane. House cats can barely be trusted let alone that monster. Given his mood he may just "love" to swat her fool head right off her shoulders. Living on the edge in Colombia.

#2 Rock Star, Hole, thanks.

#2 always makes me think of you and Brooke.

#5 is, of course, "I Feel Pretty" from West Side Story - one musical I hope I never have to sit through ever again after a summer working in a dinner theater where it had a 3 month run. Yikes.

That was adorable. I woke up today with my monster of a kitty, Cry Baby, literally cradled in my left arm purring away. I think he knows I've been needing the love what with all the migraines. Hell, maybe it's his head laying/purring that's getting rid of them!!

Isn't it funny that I only know #5 from Dirty Dancing instead of the real thing? Ah well, such is the way of pop culture.

I am too late to ID #5, but #1 is Knocks Me Off My Feet by Stevie Wonder. It is on Songs in the Key of Life (which also has Isn't She Lovely, which has shown up in your shuffle on occasion). Now Dad has put on the record!

Your parents aren't much into Valentine's Day either. But, see? You ended up with at least 2 songs about love in your shuffle anyhow! (numbers 1 and 5)

BTW, I learned today that this is National Condom Week, Feb 11 - 15.

Hey Monica, it's kind of amusing to read about the "wolfenness" of a lion! (smile)

Monica- We totally have to find a starved and dying lion somewhere to rescue. When he lifts the paw to get in closer...Precious.

Lord Omar- You know you want to hug the lion.

Jason- You like Hole hehe.

Chatty Knitter- A bad production of West Side Story must be one of the worst things ever. Even a good production for 3 months straight would be terror.

Katrina- You have your own mini lion to love! It took me a while to remember that the song was in Dirty Dancing actually.

Mom- I figured one or two would pop up in the shuffle. I mean many songs are about love or the loss of it. That lion is incredibly wolfen.

Jamie- Isn't it just wonderful!

I put the word "love" in my I-Tunes and got over 1000 songs. Somehow, I wound up on a Michael Jackson tangent...Off the Wall was a great album...what a wacky guy.

Oh, I can't help but imagine how very, very badly that "hug" might have gone. I love the big cats, but they are kiling machines.

Note to "self": If you hug a lion, make sure there are some strong bars in between Lion and You...
