NOT SO SUBTLE

Our City Councilman sent out a little brochure with descriptions of all the judges and random things that I never pay attention to. I thought it was a pretty nice thing to do. On the back there was a sample ballot. It showed Hillary Clinton’s name right on top. Then Senatorial candidates were listed. I wondered why they didn’t list other possible presidential candidates. Was it some kind of sideways endorsement of Clinton? I found it to be rather disturbing and made me distrust the things inside about the judge types. Very interesting.

While watching G4 last night they held a poll of how many people planned to vote this year. Sadly 64% of the people said they planned to. It shocked me. I can accept that some people may plan to vote but then something happens and they end up not doing it. I still was amazed by how many people simply didn’t plan to participate in any way. In this time I don’t understand how people can sit back and say whoever is President won’t make a difference in their lives. It’s that kind of attitude that will land us a President who walks around like this.

1. It’s over/ You don’t need to tell me/ I hope you’re with someone who makes you feel safe in your sleep

2. I caught it in the face/ Coming round again/ I thought it was worth waiting/ You're caught up in my head. Dry, PJ Harvey. Identified by Chatty Knitter

3. Stand up/ You’ve got to manage/ I won’t sympathize/ Anymore

4. Laid back in an old salon with a peso in my hand/ Watching flies and children on the street

5. Is there anybody going to listen to my story/ All about the girl who came to stay/ She’s the kind of girl you want so much it makes you sorry/ Still you don’t regret a single day. Girl, The Beatles. Identified by Mom.

I mean to tell you that I watched the Garth Brooks concert on CBS the other night and Huey joined him for a duet on Workin' For A Livin'. Just wanted you to know...
;-)

I meant to say I 'meant' to tell you...

I still can't believe he said that. And he had to add in the "who, who, who". Total facepalm moment.

You watch G4? What demographic do you fall into? Are you a gamer, a Star Trek nerd, or just addicted to Cops (which is all they seem to show now...)?

Michael C- I can't believe I missed it. It almost makes me want to watch country music...almost.

Woozie- I guess I would fall in the gamer category but am not particularly great at games. The PS2 was the first system I ever owned and I currently have a PS3. I typically watch Attack of the Show when I get home from work and sometimes X-Play. I am totally addicted to Ninja Warrior!!! While I know my share of Star Trek I don't qualify as a Trekie and I have never seen a full episode of Cops in my life.

Yeah, but you are the offspring of 2 Star Trek fans. I would not call either of us "Trekkies" or even "Trekkers" or Star Trek nerds. We have never even remotely considered going to a convention or wearing a silly costume. But we do like the Star Trek shows and movies. (And we can quote a few famous Star Trek quotes now and then.)

#5: Girl by the Beatles. This was on Rubber Soul, the first album I ever bought (and I still own my original copy).

#2...Dry by PJ Harvey? Yes? :)

Don't be surprised when you see endorsements by one shady politician for another. It's common practice in a Presidential year.

apathy bothers me...but it is so easy to do...

Michael: Huey Lewis? I had a chance to see a free live concert by him and turned it down. This was before he was famous at all. Needless to say, I regret it.

Natalie: And yes, I did watch that Garth Brooks concert. I was in a room at that time that does not have cable, and only geta CBS. Actually, it is the only time I have ever watched a country music concert on TV.

I watched Garth too. Now I must conceal my identity.
Nice to see the political machine is alive and well. I live across the street from a Giuliani headquarters, wonder what it will be now...
LOVED Romney's "who let the dogs out" needs to be the campaign song for sure.

Mom- Yeah people who just like and watch the show don't entirely qualify so their offspring certainly don't.

Chatty Knitter- I actually expect endorsements. It was the fact that seemed a veiled endorsement that struck me as odd.

Dmarks- You didn't see TEH Huey? Man, I didn't see him recently either but it was because it was way in the middle of Indiana. Oh, and I don't much care for him. Still. 2008 is his year for a comeback. Remember and tell your friends.

Jenn- I am seriously out of the loop on this concert. I feel horrible.
